Though a student may have delays, special education eligibility is not required when successful general education supports allow a student to progress through the curriculum without special education classification.

Question 5.1: If review of progress reveals interventions have not been implemented and monitored for an appropriate amount of time to show effect or lack of effect in identified area, select “No”. Since interventions are a required component for SLD determination, a NO response will remove SLD from consideration.  This question will default to NO if no interventions were reported in the Progress Monitoring section.

Question 5.2:  If after reviewing the student data summarized in Section 4 as well as any available progress monitoring data summarized in section 2 the team determines the student is making adeqaute progress in skills that may allow the student to reach grade level benchmarks in a reasonable period of time, interventions should continue and the student would not require special education support.

If after reviewing the student data summarized in Section 4 as well as any available progress monitoring data summarized in section 2 the team determines the student is performing within normal age or grade level expectations, the student would also not require special education support.

If the summary of data and progress reveals the student is not making a sufficient rate of progress, select “Yes” and move to the next page of the eligibility.
