Data uses and Support
Data Uses
LEA should use the data from the Parent Survey to inform program planning. For example, if question 10 is the LEA’s lowest area, the LEA should answer the following questions and act on one or more ideas.
- How do you keep parents informed when the student is transitioning to a new grade level or school?
- Do you provide meaningful transition meetings to discuss any changes to the IEP as a result?
- When do you start talking about transition with your parents?
- Do you have consistent procedures for informing your parents of your Parent Mentor and his/her services?
- Do you have consistent procedures for informing parents of outside agencies that may support their child?
- Do you have checklist or informational packets that can be provided to parents for transition planning or additional support available?
GaDOE uses the data for the State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report Indicator 8. The data is analyzed based on disability category and race/ethnicity. The goal is for the results to represent the special education population in both areas. GaDOE uses the data to provide additional technical support by the District Liaisons and Collaborative Community Leaders to the LEA’s with poor representation and/or insufficient data.
