Excusals are only available for IEP meetings.  Program users will not see the option to create an excusal if the meeting purpose includes any eligibility type.

To complete an excusal for an IEP meeting, program users will open the meeting notice and follow the steps below:

  1. A team member such as a general education teacher or a related service provider can be excused from an IEP meeting. However – this rule applies only to IEP meetings and not to Eligibility, Reevaluation Eligibilities or Reevaluation Data Review meetings.
  2. The Excusal can be found on the blue bar on the meetings tab inside an Initial IEP, Annual Review, or Amendment notice.  (Select the Click to Expand link). It will be available only if the meeting status is either in development or rescheduled. If the meeting notice has been submitted, you can reschedule to get this option.

  1. Then select the Add Excusal link.

  1. A pop-up box will appear with 2 fields

  1. Select the role of the member you wish to excuse

  1. Select the reason for the excusal

  1. You will be able to submit the notice without including a general ed teacher if you are requesting the excusal of the general ed teacher.

  1. The excusal count history now has this information showing.
